Banner Elk Christian Fellowship Beliefs
Who We Are
We are a nondenominational church fellowship of believers that come from many different traditions, backgrounds, and locations. Our focus is on the person and work of Christ, we gather in His name alone, and proclaim “Jesus is Lord”. We have a place for you in the fellowship of loving people who love our Lord and love each other. The Banner Elk Christian Fellowship is a fellowship of the Body of Christ. We love each other and enjoy being together; so fellowship is a big part of who we are. We welcome all, and you; as a visitor are just as much a part of this fellowship as those that have been coming for many years. We invite you to fully participate in the meetings and functions of this church. We offer communion, discipleship classes and a contemporary worship service each Sunday along with several small group meetings throughout the week. Click on Ministries and Small Groups to learn more about what’s offered through the week.
What We Believe
The Banner Elk Christian Fellowship has been meeting together since 1981. We come from many different backgrounds and have some common beliefs that we consider essential. Those beliefs that we commonly agree upon are the inspiration of the Bible as the Word of God and as the final authority in matters of faith and practice. We believe that God is loving, just, the creator, and existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is eternal, the incarnated Son of God, virgin born, lived a sinless life, and died upon a cross for our sins and that God attested to His finished work on the cross by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His own right hand. We believe that the sacrificial death of Christ on the cross fully and eternally paid for our sin, and by our faith in Him we are granted eternal life and fellowship with Him. We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit; that He dwells in the lives of believers, and is the enabler, convicter, comforter and counselor.
Our Vision
As a community we will focus on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and grow in our faith.
Our Mission: To glorify God.
We strive to do this by:
Firmly planting ourselves in the word of God.
Equipping one another for service.
Loving each other as Christ loved the church.
Lifting each other up in prayer.
Opening ourselves to the Holy Spirit’s leading.
Worshiping and Praising the Lord.
Serving one another.
Helping reach the needs of people in our community.
Inspiring each other to become holy and whole people in Christ.
Proclaiming the Gospel to our community, nation and world.
Our Values
Hospitality: We believe we are being invited by the Holy Spirit to extend the welcome, rest, and invitation of Jesus to all. We welcome people into our church, our homes, and our lives.
Community: We seek to inspire and grow a healthy community in the name of Jesus Christ, in which people are known and loved.
Evangelism: We are called to lovingly, confidently, and faithfully share the hope we have in Jesus with our community; and to equip and invite all to participate in God’s redeeming work in our homes, in our community, nation, and the world.
Discipleship: We are committed to individual and small group discipleship. We will grow together in Christ through his Word.
Prayer: We will be obedient to pray for each other, our community, our nation, and the world.
